BW Maintenance Log
As explained in my BLOG on 27 February 2010; I am carrying out my own regular ‘mini-surveys’ of our area, assigning GPS coordinates to one or more images of any defects found and then advancing this information to British Waterways. The whole purpose of providing this information to British Waterways is to assist them to identify waterways defects for further investigation and to target maintenance resources more efficiently. It is being provided to British Waterways totally free of charge.
I have created a ‘Maintenance Log’ in the form of an MSExcel spreadsheet (because it is easier to sort and filter information that way). The first version of this spreadsheet was sent to British Waterways (Central Shires) on 11 March 2010 and it will be periodically updated when I observe any further defects, receive a response from British Waterways and/or observe that a defect has been rectified. The updated spreadsheet will be uploaded to this website and copied again to British Waterways. Eventually, there will be a performance graphic added taking into account the ’seriousness’ or ‘ranking’ of the defect and the time taken between notification and rectification.
[Please note that only the low resolution image links in this spreadsheet will open in your browser. The high resolution image links in this spreadsheet relate to my own local directories for administration purposes]
British Waterways Maintenance Log
As I said in my BLOG; if others did the same, the collective effort would be of immense benefit to BW because they would surely become much more aware of the presence/location of defects and they should be able to target maintenance resources more efficiently as a result.
